Abstract:
Introduction: The propensity of using non-medicinal methods of relieving labor pain is increasing. The object of this study is to compare the influence of Acupressure at two GB-21 and SP-6 points on the labor output.
Methods: In this quasi-experimental study 250 primiparous women were divided by random allocation method into 5 groups: acupressure at GB-21 point in mono-stage; acupressure at GB-21 inbi-stage;, acupressure at SP-6 point in mono-stage; acupressure at SP-6 point in bi-stage and control group, only contact at two points. The intervention was carried out for a period of 20 minutes. The pain severity was evaluated before, immediately, 30 and 60 minutes after intervention using Visual Analog Pain Scale (VAS). The duration of active phase and 2nd stage of delivery, delivery type and the APGAR of 1st and 5th minutes of neonate was compared in groups.
