Aim: with concerning slight complications of acupuncture and also being accessible of this field, we decided to evaluate its therapeutic effect on the pain after operation. Methods: patients turning to the urology ward Imam Reza Hospital which required to inguinal surgery have been studied. Not addicted patients with the age range 20 to 60 years that were not used any anti-pain drugs were included to the study. The patients before surgery have been selected randomly in one of the study groups, sham acupuncture and true acupuncture. Acupuncture method which we have studied, was electro acupuncture. After surgery operation the rate of pain has been recorded by blind observer relative to acupuncture based on 10 part criterion of vas standard.
